Bible Verse of the Day for October 8, 2026

Where this verse sits

Psalm 34 is a psalm of thanksgiving from someone who has been delivered. “Taste and see that the LORD is good” invites experience, and the next line blesses the person who takes refuge in him. Later the psalm teaches the fear of the Lord and says he is near the brokenhearted. Goodness and nearness to the crushed belong together. Read at least verses 1 through 18 so the invitation is not separated from the people it has in view.

Reflection

This verse is an invitation to experimental faith: 'Taste and see that the LORD is good.' We cannot know the goodness of God by merely studying Him from a distance; we must experience Him through personal trust and daily interaction. Blessed is the person who trusts in Him, finding that His promises are reliable, His presence is sweet, and His care is real. Taste of His word and His peace today.

A prayer from this verse

“Father, show me Your goodness today. Help me 'taste and see' Your faithfulness in the small details of my life. I put my trust in You and seek shelter in Your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.”

One action: At the end of the day, list three specific moments where you experienced or saw God's goodness in action.
