Bible Verse of the Day for October 12, 2026

Where this verse sits

Psalm 119 is a long meditation on the word of God, arranged by the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. A lamp to the feet lights the next step, which fits a psalm that keeps asking for understanding and obedience in ordinary trouble. You do not need all 176 verses today. Read the stanza that holds verse 105, verses 105 through 112, and let “a light to my path” stay next to the psalmist’s promise to keep God’s righteous judgments.

Reflection

The psalmist pictures God's word lighting his feet and path. A lamp for the feet doesn't illuminate miles ahead; it lights up the very next step so we do not stumble. God doesn't always show us the final destination, but His word provides enough light for the decision right in front of us. Walking by His light requires taking one obedient step at a time, trusting His word to guide the next.

A prayer from this verse

“Father, thank You for Your word. Guide my decisions today. Let Your truth light up the next step I need to take. Keep my feet from stumbling as I walk in Your light. In Jesus' name, Amen.”

One action: Identify one immediate choice or step you need to make, search what scripture says about it, and make that choice in alignment with God's word.
