Bible Verse of the Day for October 13, 2026

Where this verse sits

Romans 12 turns from the mercy explained in the letter so far to the life that mercy produces. The appeal is to present your body as a living sacrifice. Conformity to this age and the renewing of the mind come next, and then sober judgment, gifts, and practical love. Verse 2 is not a method for improving yourself. Read verses 1 through 8 so a renewed mind stays attached to a given body and a shared church.

Reflection

We are called to resist the pressure of this world to conform to its values, habits, and ways of thinking. Instead, we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This renewal happens as we saturate our thoughts with Scripture, replacing the patterns of the world with the patterns of God's truth. Then, we will be able to discern and walk in His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

A prayer from this verse

“Lord, forgive me for conforming to the patterns and anxieties of this world. Renew my mind today through Your truth. Transform my desires and thoughts so that I may walk in Your perfect will. In Jesus' name, Amen.”

One action: Identify one secular worry or pattern of thinking you are falling into, and write down a scripture that transforms that thought.
